1971 Topper Toys, King Ding and His Brain Robot in Original Box

1971 Topper Toys, King Ding and His Brain Robot in Original Box

Fantastic example of the elusive King Ding battery operated robot. Toy is in beautiful near mint+ condition complete with its original Brain Robot. All functions work beautifully! It also comes with its original cardboard, color laminated box, inserts, plus original instruction sheet.

Weighing just slightly over five pounds King Ding is all thick, heavy molded plastic construction. Arms raise and lower manually. Pinchers placed horizontally (left hand) and vertically (right hand) are used for gripping and are operated manually using spring loaded mechanisms.

The toys features the unusual mechanism of an internal elevator. Using the directional switches located on his back King Ding can move forward or reverse. Switch one of the levers and his internal elevator lowers to expose his Brain Robot. To replace the Brain attach his hands clips to the posts in front of it and raise the elevator into position. Looking through the transparent face mask makes it appear that the Brain Robot is in control!

The box features two full color panels of the King with robot subjects on a lunar surface. The second color panel demonstrates some of its abilities. The remaining two panels  include detailed illustrations which advertise additional toys in the series. The instructions show how to operate and insert the batteries.
