1929 Collis, Famous Combination Ankle Supporter in Original Box

1929 Collis, Famous Combination Ankle Supporter in Original Box

This is a little bit out of my line, but once I saw the graphics and the condition of this item I couldn't resist. This is an unused mint in box pair of laced leather ankle supporters for active sports type people. Sold in 1929 they use a series of steel ribbons built into the upper half to prevent the ankle from fracturing. All this did was relocate the area of stress, namely the boot top. So instead of a fractured ankle you'd wind up with a fractured leg!

The box is fabulous. It regally promotes the product name across the top third of the box in bold capital letters. The lower two thirds shows the type of sports where this supporter could be used such as football, baseball, and ice hockey. The early 20th century uniforms and helmets are really neat. The box is complete with all six original endflaps.

The supporters themselves are black reinforced leather, laced at the top, and embossed with a large capital letter "A" at the bottom on one side. They're size 8 and have never been used.

Size: Box 7" x 6" x 1".
