1932 Little Orphan Annie Ceramic Ovaltine Mug

Fantastic early Ovaltine premium featuring colored illustration of Little Orphan Annie on one side and Sandy on the other. Both drawings are signed with a facsimile signature by the strips creator Harold Gray. 

Glazed ceramic mug with overall yellow patina. Green highlighting around the lip and handle edge. Underside is marked that it was manufactured for the makers of Ovaltine, but the actual company which produced the cup is unknown. 

Attention New York City Jean Shepherd fans (of which I am one). In one of Shep's many diatribes on WOR radio he mentioned that he owned this mug since he was child. He also said that it was much more difficult to find, especially unbroken, than any of the Annie plastic shake-up mugs. I agree. It's the first one I've found in pristine condition.

Size: 3" tall and 3" diameter lip.
