1935 Marx, Buck Rogers 25th Century Rocket Police Patrol in Original Box
Superb excellent+ to near mint example of one of the most sought after comic/space toys produced during the 20th century. One of the most beautifully designed of all the Marx toys (and also one of the scarcest) it comes complete with its highly prized original box in excellent condition. Brilliantly contrasted colors lithographed onto steel plate, not tin. It's artistic resemblance to a living creature was not accidental. It features a three dimensional cockpit surrounded by a chrome plated steel cowl. Buck Rogers with his Atomic Disintegrator pears over the front. The ship is completely original including the rear upright tailfin. It works beautifully. The clockwork motor produces a loud boing-boing sound as it moves ahead, while a steady flood of sparks shoot out from the rear exhaust. Nothing has been replaced or repaired except the flint. The box consists of a simple one-color text printed on thin cardboard. Advertised as "A Flashing, Roaring, Speeding....Inter-Planetary Police Patrol" it was apparently enough to make this toy a sellout during the height of the Depression.
