c.1955 Davy Crockett Frontiersman Doll in Original Package
One of the more unusual Davy Crockett pieces to emerge during the Crockett fad in the mid-1950's was this Davy Crockett doll with sleepy eyes (open and close). It has a composition head with plastic body and limbs. He's wearing a fabric frontiersman's outfit with vinyl sash and still carries his original plastic tomahawk. Of course, Davy has on his faux coonskin cap with felt liner. His shoes are plastic and are integrated into the body. They're not separate. Davy's original package consists of a mirrored disc with cardboard around it and his name pasted to the outside. The package itself is a plastic tube fitted with a carrying cord at the top. I placed the cardboard disk into the top end of it so I could photograph it. Size: 7¼". Sold: Jan. 2006
