"Old Mother Goose, so famous in rhyme,

Likes to call on her friends at Christmas-time.

She wishes, of course, to be quite up-to-date,

So an auto she's bought, to go touring in state."

These are the first four lines from this "contemporary" version of Mother Goose Nursery Rhymes. Promoting the newest and coolest trends of the time, advertisers would tweak the old classics to make them more current and attractive. This 16 page soft cover book published by McLoughlin Bros. includes eight beautiful, full page chromolithographs and eight 1/4 page black and white lithographs. The spine has it's original staples and the back cover is also full color (see last photo).

However, it's the fantastic cover which really makes the entire book stand out. The image of Mother Goose behind the wheel of such an early automobile is mesmerizing. The goose standing on the front hood is, of course, the horn. And check out Mom's seat....it's tufted!

Size: 8¼" x 10½".
