1934 Babe Ruth Quaker Cereals Baseball Club Cello Pin
Very nice black and white photo celluloid pin featuring Babe Ruth. The pin, or "badge" as it was originally called, was obtained when you joined the Babe Ruth Baseball Club. Sponsored by Quaker, club membership was required to win "swell prizes" like baseballs, mitts, and trips. Basic membership got you the pin. Once you became a member you were eligible for "more than 1,000 prizes every week". More of a contest than a club it ran from May 1st to July 15th, 1934. The name of the manufacturer was printed on the left side of the pin, but it was partially obscured. Only the word "Chicago" can be read. The reverse side is polished tin and it has its original pin. Size: 7/8" diameter. Date Sold: Oct. 2009
