1963 Colorforms, Beverly Hillbillies Kit in Original Box (Autographed)
Original and complete unused mint set of self stick Colorforms magic plastic shapes based on the CBS hit sitcom The Beverly Hillbillies. Complete with original box. Lower left corner of the box cover was autographed and inscribed by Donna Douglas who played Elly May Clampett. The set is complete with all 25 original pieces (pink, yellow, and blue) set into their embossed, black vinyl storage windows. Everything you need to complete Granny, Jed, Elly May, Jethro, and Duke (the dog) are included. The two black storage windows are tabbed to fit into slots located on the white background. The background depicts the entrance hall to their stately mansion. It was printed in black and white and coated with transparent vinyl. Also included is its scarce illustrated accordion-style fold out instruction sheet. It's four pages of cartoon style drawings and text (message to the parent). Two pages are color, the other two black and white. The original box features a full panel color cartoon illustration of the Clampett's in their classic open truck with the mansion in the background. A short synopsis of the show is provided. The side aprons repeat the toy name and manufacturer in color. From my research this is a particularly difficult set to find, especially unused and complete. However, what really makes this toy stand out is the hand written inscription on the cover. It's signed "Love, Donna Douglas, Elly May". Underneath the signature Ms. Douglas included some "mysterious" inscription which I could not identify. Much thanks to my wife who deciphered it as a quotation from the New Testament, Proverbs Book 3, paragraphs 5 and 6 as the following: Proverbs Book 3 (further benefits of wisdom) 5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.
