1966 Poynter, Walkin' Lark Cigarette Pack in Original Box
Mechanically driven walking cigarette packs had been popular since the 1930's, but it wasn't until the 1960's that they were commonly sold in airports. This one is a pack of walking LARK cigarettes. It features a pre-Surgeon General warning exterior which duplicates the actual product. Two plastic bare feet methodically step ahead of each to move it forward. Not only were the graphics duplicated, but the tax seal and foil end were also used. It was manufactured by Poynter Products in Japan. It consists of a plastic rectangular form covered with thin printed vinyl. The wind-up motor under the base of the toy is housed inside a steel encasement. The underside is also metal. It has an start/stop lever at the base. It comes with its original metal key. The pack also comes complete with its original illustrated box. The front and back show a 60's style drawing of the feet driven cigs, while black footprints appear on every panel except the bottom. It also comes with its original instruction sheet.
