1963 Universal Monsters Flip Books #1 Mummy #2 The Creature (Uncut)
The Topps Trading Card Co., produced a series of 36 flip books based on the Universal Monsters (Frankenstein, Mummy, Wolfman, Creature, etc.,). These are the first two books from the series #1 The Mummy (Death Struggle) and #2 The Creature (Futile Battle). Originally they were purchased 2/pack for 5¢. They were packed uncut and required separation to view them. This pair has never been broken apart. Each contains about 30 black and white shots; when flipped in succession a very short movie clip would be produced. Both are complete and unused. The front of each pack has a red printed skull and cross bones, Collect All 36 Movies, and Universal Pictures, Inc., . The reverse side identifies the monster, assigns a made-up name to the scene, and includes a short description. Cartoon images of the monsters were printed around the perimeter edge. These appear to have been drawn by Jack Davis (Mad Magazine, EC Comics), but there is no signature. Size: (Uncut) 4⅛†x 2⅜†x â…›â€. Sold: Jun. 2012
