1938 Whitman, Charlie McCarthy's Flying Hats In Original Can
Tiddily-wink type game based on the famous ventriloquist Edgar Bergen "right hand" man Charlie McCarthy. Toy is complete and appears to have been used, but very infrequently. The game is contained inside its original cardboard and metal can. The cylinder is cardboard with an applied full color art deco style print of Charlie on one side. The opposite side includes the toy name. Edgar Bergen's name appears in tiny print above Charlie's. The sealed metal bottom and removable cap are tinplate. The bottom is polished and embossed while the cap is lithoed metallic red. The toy is complete with all 17 enamel painted wooden top hats. There are four each of red, blue, yellow, and green. An additional single black top hat scores higher points. The toy includes both original tin litho catapults. Of course the idea is to use the catapult to flip your color hats into the can.
