"The Adventures of Superman", published in hard cover by Random House in 1942. First page facing inside cover was signed boldly by the author George Lowther. "For Edward, with the best wishes of the author, George Lowther". Complete with original full color dust jacket. First appearance of the Man of Steel in a hard covered book (1st edition) and first authorized compilation of the entire Superman story. Copyright , 1942 by Superman, Inc. with foreword by Josette Frank.

Recounts the original Joe Shuster and Jerry Siegel tale starting with the origin of Superman, his arrival on Earth, boyhood and discovery of super powers and "dedication to his fight against evil". It continues with the Mystery of The Skeleton Ship which includes the introduction of Lois Lane and Mr. White. 

216 pages with 40 black and white illustrations and 4 color plates all drawn by co-creator Joe Shuster. Includes original wrap-around original dust jacket featuring a classic full color Shuster illustration of Superman "leaping over tall buildings". Inner front dust jacket cover advertises it as The Adventures of Superman "for the first time in book form". Superman "S" shield emblem appears on dust jacket spine.

The book itself has a maroon cloth cover embossed in black with the Superman logo (full name, not just the "S" emblem) and a Schuster sketch of Superman throwing a right punch. Spine is also embossed with the same logo and a torso/head illustration of Superman.

Author's signature and salutation was written in black fountain pen many years ago. It was written in a very eloquent style with curved lines connecting the recipients name, to the salutation, and to the signature. Includes clear Mylar archival book cover.
