1938 Marx, The Lone Ranger Click Pistol in Original Box
Black enameled pressed steel clicker pistol featuring The Masked Man, The Lone Ranger. Manufactured by Marx, this example looks like it was never played with. It comes complete with its original generic type box with pre-1939 logo. It's a fairly heavy toy weighing nearly 6 oz. It's all black enamel finished with the exception of the polished, chrome plated bullet chamber. It has a single, red painted, encased metal concho on the right frame side. The left frame side is adorned with a zombie like decal of the The Lone Ranger. I've seen only one other complete decal and it was just as hideous. The copyright date and Made in U.S. of America was also printed on the decal. The pistol has embossed cross-hatched grips on both sides. Curiously, there is no Marx logo stamped into the metal. I've had this toy one other time. That example had no concho, the bullet chamber was black enameled, and it had an embossed Marx logo. I don't know why there would be such a wide variation of the same toy. It has only one moving part; the trigger. And yes, it makes a beautiful loud clicker sound at the lightest squeeze. The original box is a generic type with pre-1939 Marx logo. The one other time I found this toy it had the same identical box. It's a simple single color text printed on thin walled cardboard. Size: 7½" long. Sold: Jan. 2008
