1947 Superman Club, The Argus, Australian Newspaper Stick Pin Premium
Near flawless brass disk stickpin painted with red and green enamel featuring an embossed illustration of Superman. Scarce Superman Club premium only available in Australia through The Argus newspaper. It has the original stickpin soldered to the back. The solder is original which is commensurate with the condition of the pin. The Argus was one of Australia's earliest newspapers. It was published in Melbourne for over 100 years. It ceased publication in 1956. The colored sections of this disk were not actually "painted". The areas of color are recessed into the metal. Particles of solid material were placed in the recesses and it was then baked in an oven. The melted material flowed into the recesses. Cloisonné ceramics are produced using a similar technique. Size: 13/16" (22mm) diameter. 1-7/8" long. Sold: Apr. 2005
