1950 Linemar, Fire Chief Emergency Car In Box
Gorgeous and fully operational battery operated (Pontiac) Fire Chief Emergency Car manufactured by Linemar. Comes complete with tethered remote control and beautifully illustrated original box. Deep cherry red body with white/creme colored roof features combination styling of the 1950 Pontiac Catalina and Oldsmobile Sedan. (I couldn't peg it down to a specific car). Car and controller are all heavy gauge tinplate. Actions include forward or reverse movement, simultaneous siren, and flashing emergency roof light with sweeping side-to-side motion. Lots of chrome includes side moldings, hood divider, grille, and front and rear bumpers. Emergency roof light uses its original red bulb set into the red lithoed and silver painted housing. "Fire Dept. Emergency", rear license plate and head lights were separately tabbed to the body. Tires are solid black rubber with embossed lithoed centers. Controller uses its original blue steering wheel to turn the front wheels. Tether is slightly more than 3 feet long and is covered by its original green vinyl. Underside chassis is embossed black litho with white details. Gorgeous box shows the Emergency car in a coupe version complete with burning buildings in the background. It shows a separate hood mounted emergency siren which is not part of the actual toy. And although the bumper and styling look like many cars of early 50s vintage I don't think it represented a specific model. Date Sold: Feb. 2011
