1949 Marx, Dick Tracy (Lime Green) Electric Squad Car in Original Box
One of the scarcer versions of the Marx, Dick Tracy Siren Squad Car is this type with light lime green colored body. It's all tin litho, friction drive, and battery operated emergency roof light. It's also in beautiful high grade condition and comes complete with its original box. As with other versions of the toy it's wonderfully lithographed with "lots of stuff". Perspective views of Tracy, Sam Ketch'Em, the Captain and Lieutenant can be seen in every window. A large yellow badge with portrait of Dick Tracy was lithoed on both doors. Tracy's name also appears on the front hood and (lithoed) turn signals. Both front and rear hoods are embossed making the fenders and front grille stand out from the rest of the car. Front grill, bumpers, lights (just about everywhere), and license plate were also included. And of course it has its original yellow plastic emergency roof light with original red bulb....best of all it works great. It lights up every time the rear axles completes a single rotation. The underside chassis is embossed and has a single battery slot. The original on/off switch and battery holder are still in place. And it works great!! Tires are solid black rubber. The front pair are friction driven. Even the siren works!! The red and white illustrated box shows two views of the car from the front and side with all of its eager occupants. Printed text including the electric flashing light are on every panel plus endflaps. It's also important to note that this is the correct version of the box for this toy. Size: 11". Sold: Sep. 2011
