1949 Marx, Mechanical Roadster (Turquoise Blue) in Original Box
Fantastic turquoise blue, mechanical tin litho roadster complete with original illustrated box. Sleek, late 40's styling with silver lithoed bonnet and front hood divider; accented with white stripping and outlined in black. Red plaid interior with solid red dashboard. This version did not have a driver. Pink lithoed chassis with rolled metal edges, which was then clipped into place to firmly hold it to the body. Rear tires are wooden and front pair are rubber to provide "grab" (front axle is attached to the mechanical motor). Transparent plastic, divided windshield with matching clear plastic steering wheel. Both are original. Nicely illustrated box shows a sporty looking dude barreling through the countryside in his convertible. The side panels show a more "refined" looking driver passing by a country billboard with "Mechanical Roadster" printed across it. Size: 11½" x 4". Sold: May 2007
