c.1946 Streamline Toy Co., Mechanical Aluminum Fighter Plane in Original Box

Beautifully (and realistically) designed after several possible WWII fighter planes this awesome mechanical wind-up Fighter Plane is completely made from stamped aluminum. You can still see the Alcoa trademarks on the underside of the fuselage. It comes complete with its original box plus the original instructions. I purchased it from its original owner (the guy who did the assembly).

This is actually a superbly crafted kit that came unassembled. (You wouldn't know it was a kit just by looking at the plane). The exterior surfaces are all brightly polished while the interior surfaces were left dull. The motor, rubber wheels, propeller...everything including the Air Corp insignias came as individual parts. Red, white, and blue stickers were applied to the wings and upright tail. The propeller spins freely, but it's not mechanically driven. It has an attached key with several step down gears and a spring wound motor.

The original box was printed in red and blue over a white background. The colors have darkened with age, but everything is still clear and readable. A separate yellow sticker indicating that the kit includes a "Genu-Wind Motor" was applied to both sides of the box. It also has a terrific illustration of the Fighter. The toy was manufactured by the Streamline Toy Company, Philadelphia, PA. I've never heard of the company and it's the first time I've seen this airplane. The instructions are well detailed and are also illustrated.

Size:  10" wingspan, 9" fuselage.
