1955 Marx, No.4474 Mobile Searchlight Truck in Original Box
This awesome pressed steel Mobile Searchlight truck from Marx was a Sears exclusive available for only two years 1955-56. In fact it comes with its original box which still has its original shipping label addressed to the Sears Roebuck store in Rome, NY. This example is in near mint condition and was never played with. This all steel vehicle features a huge 4½" diameter rotating, tilting plastic searchlight. The vehicle itself is made from a combination of embossed lithographed steel and baked-on enamel. Beautifully designed with contrasting colors of gold, black and white. Contained within the cab interior is a flywheel friction drive motor. That's rarely seen on these large steel Marx trucks. It originally sold for $3.79. It features a separate grille/headlight assembly, an integrated front bumper (part of the chassis), a plastic dummy generator contained within a steel housing and rubber exhaust pipe. The tires are solid rubber with chromed metal hubs. It comes with its original box which is still sealed on one end. The other end has the original shipping label as previously mentioned. It also has its original cardboard insert. Size: 17" x 6" x 6". Sold: Jun. 2005
