c.1928 Lindstrom, No.122 Johnny Dancing Clown in Original Box
Odd, unusual and really "neat" describes many of the toys produced by Lindstrom. During the 1920's and 30's this small New York/Connecticut company came out with some of the most distinctive U.S. made toys. They really caught your eye. Johnny Dancing Clown is no exception. He's all tin litho with brass plated foot soles. His facial characteristics are particularly well detailed, but at the same time also have that "deer in a headlight" look to them. Now that's definitely unusual. Johnny is in awesome near mint condition and complete with his original box. . This is one of only a handful of Lindstrom boxes I've found over the years. It's also a durable toy with triple sealed tab joints and one piece (two halves) construction. The single color box shows a full panel Johnny on two sides. The other two panels have almost a comic book like illustration showing several children and Johnny clowns at play. Dialogue was added to them as well. Size: 8" tall. Sold: Aug. 2005
