1919 Converse, "Red Robin Barn" complete with animals
Classic early wooden playset manufactured by Converse. It's the "Red Robin Barn" and it's complete with all 9 original animals, plus cupola and weathervane. Converse produced two sizes of their Red Robin Barn with this one being the larger. The set consists of a 19½" x 20" x 10" embossed and painted barn. The roof and cupola are removable. There's 6 separately walled animals stalls inside the barn. Each has it's own round window and feed trough. The two barn doors slide open or closed. The set includes its original 9 animals; 1 horse, 2 cows, 2 mules, 2 sheep, 1 pig, and 1 group of chickens. I'm also including two miniature hay bales which look great with the critters. I found a listing for this set in the 1919 Sears Roebuck catalog. It sold for 98¢. The listing confirmed that the 9 animals are correct for the barn and that it wasn't missing any other pieces. The only replacement is one half of the cupola roof. Everything else is original. Size: see above. Weight approx. 6 pounds. Sold: Dec. 2010
