1939 Arcade NY World's Fair Tractor Train in Original Box

1939 Arcade NY World's Fair Tractor Train in Original Box

Outstanding example of Arcade's cast iron Greyhound "Tractor Train" in extraordinary near mint+ to mint condition! Fantastic 2-vehicle set with original nickel plated driver. Comes in original, and complete, New York World's Fair box.

Painted in coordinated Fair colors of orange and blue the toy is "an exact copy in miniature of the tractor train at the 1939 New York World's Fair". Decals on each side of the tractor show both the Greyhound and Fair trademarks. Lettering is art deco style. The tractor also has its full original Arcade decal on the back side behind the driver. A clip mechanism running the length of the vehicle keeps the front and rear axles in place. The tires are solid black rubber.

The passenger section has two sets of orange seats facing each other. The body is navy blue and it has silver painted trim along its edges. The canopy is tin litho and has both original support brackets. Like the tractor, a metal clip underneath the car keeps both axles firmly in place. Tires are again, rubber. It also has a hitch to connect the two sections.

Both the tractor and train could connect to additional units using their front and rear metal loops.

The box was printed in matching orange and blue colors. Two panels show the actual toy between two Arcade logos. The remaining two panels were printed with a licensing statement and the Fair logo. End flaps include the toy and manufacturer name with catalog number 7270.
