1948 Selchow Righter Huggin The Rail Game In Original Box
Outstanding auto race board game called "Huggin' The Rail". Game is complete and appears to be in unused excellent+ to near mint condition. Complete with all game pieces, high grade box inserts without any repairs, original celluloid "lane locater", plus original store receipt. Features full color panel wide cover illustration of torpedo style race cars coming around the inside lane. Drawn in perspective against a yellow, red, and orange sunset sky. All of which gives it a realistic three dimensional appearance. The game title was repeated on all four box aprons. The interior is separated with its three original cardboard inserts. The three panel board folds open to 27" x 16". In comparison to the box cover the board is fairly uneventful, however it's in pristine mint condition. The playing pieces consist of six, 1¼" die cast metal racers with awesome late 1940s styling. Each was painted a different color. The original die lies in the same insert square. The second insert square includes an unusual magnifying-glass-shaped hollow celluloid piece with six different colored celluloid beads. Of course, the beads represent the cars. Player turns are decided depending on the order which the beads enter the handle. It's 4" long. Below this insert I found the original exchange receipt dated April 2. The "48" in the upper left corner represents the year. It originally sold for .69¢. Size: 16½" x 10" x 2". Date Sold: Mar. 2008
