1924 Kellerman, Trixie, The Acrobatic Dog in Original Box
Superb mechanical tin litho Trixie, The Acrobatic Dog manufactured by Georg Kellerman, Nuremberg, Germany. Wonderful toy comes complete with original box plus original trilingual schematic instructions. Trixie is an beautifuly crafted, single jump, lithographed tin dog. The collar is marked with the manufacturer's trademark and "Made In Germany". It features a ribbon type metal spring located behind the hind legs. Push down to compress its hind legs closer to the body. A paper-clip type side lever locks it into place. Set it down on a smooth hard surface, press gently, and Trixie does a single backward flip. It works great although it didn't end up in a standing position as shown in the instructions. I doubt it ever does. The box is the old type single wall pressed cardboard with removable lid. Right angle staples were used in all four corners of the lid and box bottom to keep them square. It features an illustration of Trixie being held in place with your basic hand. "Made In Germany" was stamped once on the lid and again on one of the box side panels. The instruction sheet shows a detailed schematic of Trixie going through a jump and the proper way to release the ribbon spring. The directions were written in English, German, and French. Size: Approximately 4" tall when completely upright. Sold: Sep. 2006
