c.1953 Japan, Ornate Western Clicker Pistol
There was something about this toy that I couldn't resist. It's a common enough clicker toy, but the pistol shape and western theme are very unusual. Lithoed in green, yellow, orange, blue, white, black, and light blue. The toy was cut from a thin metal sheet and the clicker unit was applied to the back side. It shows a winged, bridled horse facing left on the frame. A portrait of an Indian in full headdress was lithoed over a yellow and white checkerboard grip. The trigger is light blue highlighted in white. The barrel and frame were lithoed with all the colors mentioned. Most of the pistol was outlined in dark blue. The backside is solid blue color. The barrel and bullet chamber are lightly embossed. The only marks on the toy are "Japan" and "PAT 399967" which is the Japanese patent number. I was unable to identify the manufacturer. Size: 4-3/8" x 2¼". Sold: Dec. 2006
