c.1925 Kuramochi, Tin Litho Biplane Penny Toy
Pre-war Japanese polished tin "penny toy" biplane featuring the Stars and Strips on both top wings. Produced with embossed fuselage, rolling wheels, and 2-dimensional pilot. Following WWI many of these tiny airplanes were produced to honor several participating war countries. I've seen U.K., France, USA, and Belgium. Although very rarely will you find them in the condition I found this one in. Looks like it was never played with. I was only able to identify after researching it through the Japanese Toy Museum in Kyoto, Japan. Size: 3" wingspan Sold: Oct. 2006
Price Sold: $ 45
