c.1954 Chein, No. 275 Disneyland Rollercoaster in Original Box
Magnificent clockwork tin litho Disneyland Rollercoaster by Chein. Complete with both original Chein cars and the original box. Chein manufactured several versions of their Rollercoaster beginning in 1949, but I believe the Disney version is even more scarce than the Ski-Ride version. Although Chein's Disney version of their Ferris Wheel comes up only occasionally, the Rollercoaster is seldom offered. Beautifully designed with no less than 33 different Disney characters (yep, I counted), it depicts several different scenes; each with figures mixed from different Disney classics. Similar to the Disney Ferris Wheel a large portrait of Mickey lays beneath the attached key. Above rotates the typical red, white, and blue swirled disc which rings the white bell. It has its original yellow elastic and it works flawlessly. The cars roll smoothly down the track without any hang-up or hesitation ...exactly like they were supposed to when this toy was built over 50 years ago. The box No. 275 is identical to the box used for the standard Chein Rollercoaster. It features a simple line illustration of the non-Disney toy highlighted in yellow on both main box panels. Size: 20" x 8½" x 10" high. Sold: Oct. 2005
