c.1912 Stock & Co., "Jim The Walking Trollyman" in Original Box
Outstanding, early German clockwork tin litho "Jim The Walking Trolleyman" manufactured by Stock & Co.. Produced before WWI it's unused old store stock never played with. It comes complete with its original Steamer Trunk. The toy was graded near mint by Morphy Auctions and I wholeheartedly agree! It even has its original price sticker on it. In addition the toy comes with its magnificent original box which retains 100% of its original paper label. It grades excellent+ to near mint and is one of the best I've seen. Several mechanical porter toys were produced from 1900 to 1950, but Stock's "Jim The Walking Trolleyman" seldom makes an appearance. Similar to the other porter toys its clockwork provides power to the cart forcing Jim to walk forward. The animated figure moves very realistically. Even the head moves forward and backwards. The steamer trunk is original to the toy and the lid can be raised. The two piece box is all original. The paper label shows an awesome blue tinted illustration of Jim carrying the trunk. The toy name was printed in both German and English. The design printed in each corner is Stock's trademark. Five additional price stickers were found inside the box. Size: 7"long, 6" tall.
