c.1956 TPS Happy The Violinist In Original Box
Classic mechanical wind-up stilted clown "Happy, The Violinist" complete with original box. Both toy and box are in awesome near mint- (minus) condition! Clown on stilts sways from sided to side while moving its right arm as if playing the violin. The large wide shoes stabilize the toy to keep it from falling over. Head, hands, and shoes are tin litho. His body is a metal skeleton covered with green felt coat with red collar and red and white striped sating-like pants. An earlier version of this toy was produced for one year. Beautifully illustrated box multicolored, showing many circus scenes and featuring Happy on the front cover. Side panels have a large clown face on the right and Happy on the left. Three elephants in line along with lots of other stuff makes it one the "greatest boxes" produced by TPS. Only the box is marked with manufacturer's logo. It has it's original 69 cents McCrory's price sticker on the front apron. Size: 9" tall Date Sold: Feb. 2011
