1964 Bandai MGA 1600 Mark II Coupe In Original Box
Gorgeous bright deep red MGA 1600 Mark II Coupe manufactured by Bandai. All tin litho, friction drive vehicle comes complete with original box. Bandai produced several earlier versions of the MGA 1600 beginning in the late 1950s through the early 1960s. In fact an identical car, produced a few years earlier was available as a two-tone, but was sold with a different box. This model is embossed with "Mark II" on the chassis and is a beautiful single color car. Like the two-tone version, it has a right hand drive plastic steering wheel with blue litho interior. The MGA is loaded with chrome plated "stuff": windshield frame, two piece grille, headlights, and front and rear bumpers. It also has its original blue tinted celluloid windshield. The tires are solid black rubber with tin litho wire wheel centers. The rear of the car also has an embossed, lithoed license plate and tail lights. The black underside chassis is embossed with the auto model and manufacturer name and trademark. It also has its original "Cragstan" metal sticker fixed to the underside. Cragstan was the U.S. importer and distributor. The car was issued as one of Bandai's "Sports Car Series" and came inside a generic window box. Only a gold metal sticker on one of the endflaps differentiates the contents. Also very neat are six full color Bandai vehicles from the Sports Car series printed on the back of the box. These models help identify this MGA 1600 as one of the later versions sold. Size: 8¼". Date Sold: Nov. 2010
