1936 Movie: "China Clipper" Quaker Cereal Brass Ring Premium
The 1936 film "China Clipper" starring Pat O'Brien and Humphrey Bogart detailed a fictional account of the first non-stop trans-Pacific air crossing. Very few commemorative items from this film were produced. One of these was a small brass ring available only as a mail-in premium through Quaker Puffed Rice or Quaker Puffed Wheat. It could be obtained for only a brief period of time during the films release. It shows a detailed figure of the Clipper in raised metal. The trans-Pacific continental route is outlined around the edges. The sides of the ring were each embossed with a triple blade propeller. The ring is all metal and has a lustrous gold-brass color. From its appearance, luster, and noticeable lack of wear it was most likely never worn. Hole Diameter: 5/8". Sold: Dec. 2007
