c.1880 Gendron, Chromolithographed Advertising Card

Outstanding chromolithographed advertising card featuring the Express Iron Wagon manufactured by the Gendron Iron Wheel Company. Prior to their manufacture of pedal cars and other pressed steel vehicles the company was renowned for the quality production of metal wire wheels. The company ceased production in 1931. The card was printed by the "Henderson-Achert Litho. Co., Cinn. O."

The card front features two stout youths pulling the Express Wagon over a bumpy terrain. The girl seated in front doesn't seem to notice the bumps. The boy in back isn't so lucky. The back of the card proclaims the Gendron Iron Wheel Co. as the largest manufacturer's of Children's Vehicles and High Grade Safety Bicycles. Their factory in Toledo, Ohio and New York offices are indicated.
