1935 Marx, Flash Gordon Radio Repeater Click Pistol in Original Box
Magnificent Flash Gordon embossed tinplate Radio Repeater Click Pistol manufactured by Marx complete with its original illustrated box. Astonishingly, it has somehow survived the past 70 years in unplayed, unused, brilliant mint condition. The box too is unbelievable, easily grading excellent+ to near mint. Fresh from an old-time collection it's possibly one of the highest condition grades to become available in some time. Probably the most elusive of Marx's non-cap gun character toy pistols only three other tinplate clickers were produced. One of these, the Popeye Pirate Pistol, was the only other clicker made in the 1930's. 20+ years later Marx produced the Tom Corbett Space Cadet Pistol and the second Flash Gordon gun; The Arresting Ray. "A beautiful gun with graceful lines, the tin Radio Repeater Click Pistol is red, silver, and black, but the red color has often faded to orange. On the handle of the pistol , Flash Gordon is pictured to the shoulder with lettering that reads "Radio Repeater". Three dimensional flash exhausts, three to a side, are above the handle. Red lettering reads "Radio Repeater" near the exhaust. A ringed planet and star are lithographed on the pistol's edge." Greenberg's Guide To Marx Toys, Volume I. The awesome box shows a full standing detailed illustration of Flash shooting the pistol producing a lightening bolt which extends the full horizontal length of the box. The name of the toy, company name and address appear on the side and end panels. Size: 10". Sold: Oct. 2005
