1963 Masudaya, Space Radar Scout Pioneer in Original Box
Unusual tin litho friction powered "Space Radar Scout Pioneer" manufactured by Masudaya. Features two rear mounted plastic radar dishes which rotate counter-clockwise as the vehicle moves forward. Simultaneously it produces a loud siren sound. Includes original box. Red body with front grille, headlights, radar dish supports and underside chassis are all tin litho. The yellow paint driver is painted plastic under a 2¼" diameter transparent bubble. The ring holding the bubble in place is polished tin. The radar dishes are blue plastic. Tires are solid black rubber. The box cover was illustrated with an accurate rendition of the toy streaking through space. Toy name was printed on all four cover aprons. Still has its original Japanese "ST" (Safety Toy) sticker on the cover. The friction motor works great! Size: 6¾" Sold: Mar. 2014
