c.1920 Germany, 12 Composition Easter Bunny Figures in Original Box
Absolutely pristine set of 12 hand made and hand painted composition Easter Rabbit Figures complete in original box with original wood shaving packaging. Box and figures are unmarked, but definitely were produced in Germany. The manufacturer is unknown. Bunnies are clothed and posed in human form. The women wear long dresses with scarf and apron. The men wear a buttoned two or three pieces formal jacket, trousers, and vest. Painted in repetitive shade of orange, green, white, yellow, and red. Nose, eyes, and mouth were delicately painted on each one. All 12 are positioned on a brown base. They're solid throughout; no hollow cavities in bases or figures. Each is a single piece of pressed composition material that were subsequently hand-painted. They were probably originally made for Easter basket decoration and were never used. The box was made from brown, thin wall, German cardboard. Right angle staples were used to hold the corners together. The set includes its original wood shaving packaging material. The box has all of its original bottom section and most of the original top. Size: Figures 3". Box 11" x 3¼" x 1¼".
