c.1919 Thomas A. Edison Inc., Orig. 30pg Sales Catalog

At the turn of the last century Thomas Edison incorporated his own name selling several of his own invented product. This auction includes an original 30 page sales catalog from Thomas A. Edison, Inc. manufacturer of "Re-Creation Musical Instruments" (i.e., mechanical phonographs). It's printed in two colors and features intricate illustrations of 19 different phonographs. It has a simple heavy construction paper-like cover with stapled spine.

As a promotional "tool" this catalog also included newspaper critic reviews, advertising the phonograph as a valuable furniture item, and background info about Edison. The phono cabinets were designed using historical time periods such as Chippendale and Hepplewhite. A total of 9 of these time periods are discussed in detail.

For myself I found the prices and illustrations as its most interesting aspect. The upright Chippendale laboratory floor model (which I actually own) originally cost a whopping $285! A desk model, The Chalet, cost $95! These are 1919 prices.

Size: 8½" x 11½".

Price Sold: $ 20
