c.1955 Bandai, Volvo PV444 2-dr. Sedan in Original Box
Superb tin litho Volvo PV444 manufactured by Bandi although unmarked. Rear wheel friction drive version without chrome fender side trim. Beautiful car in NM condition complete with original box. This was an incredibly successful series for Volvo and Bandi really caught the appearance of it in their tin toy. Deep maroon color. All lithographed tinplate with sloping roof, embossed fenders, doors, front and rear hood. Black chassis underside embossed with frame supports and transaxle outlined in silver. Interior is lithographed pressed cardboard. Chrome plated parts include split front windshield, rear windshield, front and rear bumpers, wheel covers, and hood emblem. As per the original car, a large gold finished "V" adorns the front grille and rear trunk. Both rear and front celluloid windshields are original. Friction motor works great! The original box features an accurate color illustration of a PV444 with chrome fender side trim. The only text is "Sweden", "Volvo", and "Friction". That says it all. Snow covered mountains and lodges on the border of an evergreen forest can be seen in the background. The front and rear aprons show scenes of the car in the country, city, and residential(?) settings. Size: 5½". Sold: Mar. 2009
