1956 Kalon Mfg., Popeye Dime Register Bank, Sealed in (Blue) Original Bag
Extraordinary example of popular 1950's tin litho Popeye Dime Register Bank in mint condition still sealed in it's original bag with manufacturer's header card. Toy has never been removed from the bag. This was the Blue header card version. Tin litho bank features Popeye juggling coins on the front. The day of the week and amount saved are automatically monitored and shown in the two adjacent front windows. Reverse side of bank is solid blue and includes pop-up door which can only be opened when it's reached its $5 maximum. Side panels show other characters from the Popeye strip including Olive Oyl, Sweet Pea, Wimpy, and Sappo. Copyright date and company name were lithoed on one of the side panels. Two sided header card was generically used by Kalon Mfg. for most of their dime registering banks. The company name, address and 29¢ price are printed on one side. Directions for its use appear on the opposite side. Bag is extensively creased and nicked, but it's still in one piece. Looks great! Size: Bank 2½" square x 5/8" thick. Bag w/header 5" x 3½".
