c.1928 Chein, Spirit of St. Louis Transcontinental Game in Original Box

Outstanding lithographed tinplate spinner game based on Charles Lindbergh's famous 1927 transatlantic solo flight. Each "slice" of the sectional tinplate disk represents Lindbergh's transcontinental U.S. city stops made in his Spirit of St. Louis monoplane prior to his solo flight from New York. Each city has different betting odds. Every one is artistically detailed with close-up and partial fantasy illustrations.

The sides of the disk were decorated with alternating up and down positions of the Spirit of St. Louis. Includes large tin litho, perfectly balanced arrow spinner.

Comes with original matching illustrated box. The game is played like craps. In fact, the box folds open to reveal odds/even betting field on the inside covers. Instructions are printed on the box bottom.

It comes with 40, 5ยข Indian Head Buffalo nickels, all dated 1935. They were found inside of a paper bag underneath the tin disk. Apparently they were used as playing or betting tokens. The bag completely disintegrated.

I found this toy only one time before several years ago. In that instance the game contained 50 Indian Head pennies.

Size: 8" diameter. 1" in height.
