1957 Jayne Mansfield Hot Water Bottle with Original Cap
At the height of her popularity, Poynter Products inc., Cincinnati, OH produced this very figural three dimensional hot water bottle, after Hollywood's latest platinum-blond bombshell Jayne Mansfield. It measures nearly 2 feet long and comes with its difficult to find original black screw-on cap. Jayne Mansfield (1933 - 1967) produced 26 films during her brief lifetime, but it'll probably be the pin-up's and magazine photo-shoots that she'll be best remembered. However in the land of collectibles and toys it's her image as sexy hot water bottle that she's best known. Made of some kind of high impact plastic (probably a combination of materials) the statue is completely hollow. Just unscrew the cap to fill 'er up and she's ready to go. The cap is usually missing. Details such as the bikini, blond hair, and lipstick was machine painted. The bottom of her left foot is embossed with the manufacturer's name, address, and date. I'm also showing an old torn-out page from Time Magazine which shows the real Jayne Mansfield on the edge of a swimming pool surrounded by a flotilla of floating Jayne's.
