c.1946 Marx, The Lone Ranger Clicker Pistol in Original Box

c.1946 Marx, The Lone Ranger Clicker Pistol in Original Box

Never seen this really neat chrome plated pressed steel clicker pistol before. It's full name is the Marx, Hi-Yo Silver, The Lone Ranger Pistol. In fact the Marx Guide (Vol. II) lists it as NRS, or No Recent Sale. Aside from its scarcity, it just looks great, plus it comes complete with its original illustrated box.

Weighing a little over half a pound, it's made from heavy gauge steel. It has a single red concho (plastic jewel) on either side of the frame just above the trigger. Recessed into the grips are two white plastic slabs. Each is embossed in raised black lettering with "The Lone Ranger" and "Hi-Yo Silver". These are separated by a small triangle. At the base of the grips is a portrait of the Ranger. Below the Ranger, also in raised letters, but not black, is the Lone Ranger Inc. copyright and the 1938 copyright date. The 1938 date is not a manufacturing date. There is no Marx logo on the toy.

Squeezing the trigger produces a loud repetitive clicking sound. It works great!

The box was printed with a colorful red, blue, and yellow illustration of the Lone Ranger and Silver. The horse looks awesome, but the Ranger is rather bizarre. I've seen this drawing of the Ranger on some other Marx toys. The toy name, manufacturer name, address, and logo were also included. The Lone Ranger copyright with date was printed in the lower left corner. The endflaps have only the toy name. The side panels are blank.

Size: 7½".
