c.1936 Wyandotte No.101 Two-Stratos Ship Mystery Planes

c.1936 Wyandotte No.101 Two-Stratos Ship Mystery Planes

These are the Strato Ship Mystery Planes manufactured by Wyandotte. Produced from 1936 to 1938, one red and one green, both were unsold store stock; part of the famous Kaufman Collection (owner KB Toys). The were sold as a multiple toy lot and have no auction hang tag.

Designed with pure 1930's Art Deco streamlining the two planes are identical except for color. They're pressed out of a single piece of heavy gauge steel. The were made with twin engines, and immovable twin blade propellers. Amazingly the entire fuselage including the wings and rudders were pressed out of a single piece of heavy gauge steel. Only the strut assembly was added separately. Tires are white rubber.

They originally sold for 5¢ each.

Size 4½ wing span, 4" fuselage.

Sold: May 2011

Price Sold: $ 90
